A: While every surgery is different, most patients after aortic operations are discharged between 6-10 days after surgery. Once you are recovering well from surgery, you may be discharged directly home or for further rehabilitation. Depending on your age, your operation, your recovery, and your overall level of function, you may benefit from some time at an inpatient rehabilitation center before going home. During this time, you may gain additional strength, conditioning, and confidence before you return to your home.
